Holiday Act Taskforce Recommendations

The Government has announced  its decision to accept all of the changes recommended by the Holidays Act Taskforce. These include:

  • Bereavement and family violence leave being available from the first day of employment.
  • Providing one day’s sick leave from the first day of employment, with an additional day accruing each month until the minimum entitlement is reached.
  • Extending bereavement leave entitlements to include cultural family groups and more diverse family structures.
  • Providing the full rate of holiday pay to employees returning from parental leave.
  • Requiring payslips recording employees’ used and remaining leave entitlements.

Legislation to introduce the changes is planned for early 2022. We will of course keep you updated with any developments.
